Scene with Grammar
by Thomas Allbaugh

She—
in the next room using adjectives
apparently without knowing it—
how could she know the origins
of anything about glamour?
What did it say about me
to recognize this now,

or that he—
apparently not given to using
nouns, verbs, or ever
complements,
only pronouns, I, she, me—
gave that or which instead of who
or whom.

They
left, at or
in the end.
