There is something in the US Constitution against banning the right to bear arms, but nothing about regulating them. People in the US do not have the right to own a bazooka, and they should not have the right to secretly own a gun. There is nothing wrong with the idea of requiring strict regulation of who can own a gun, including the requirement to take a class on using and storing a gun safely. The police should know where very gun is and who currently owns it.
