The Pulitzer fiction finalists

Of the three finalists for the 2011 fiction Pulitzer, Jennifer Egan's novel was the best by far. “The Privileges,” by Jonathan Dee is so-so, but I'm not even sure why “The Surrendered,” by Chang-rae Lee was even nominated. Is that the best they could come up?
